"DayZ è il fenomeno del momento. Se vi piace il genere survivor con gli zombies (stile The Walking Dead) questo titolo è da provare! E' basato su quello che molti considerano tuttora il miglior simulatore militare in commercio ossia ArmA 2. DayZ è una mod creata da Dean "Rocket" Hall per ora in Alpha ma che permette un'esperienza videoludica quasi completa. Qualche giorno fa è arrivata la notizia che DayZ da mod diventerà un gioco indipendente, visto l'enorme successo era assurdo non continuare a farlo crescere. Il motore rimarrà sempre quello di ArmA quindi la "base" è sicura e testata. Io e Tommy lo abbiamo comprato e stiamo iniziando a capire il gioco se qualcuno vuole unirsi è ben accetto, in gruppo si sopravvive di più e si possono creare accampamenti.

Come e cosa Acquistare?
Per giocare a DayZ bisogna prima acquistare ArmA 2 Combined Operations, in pratica il gioco che si utilizza come base. Si può acquistare il gioco in versione digitale su Steam oppure scatolato sul web al costo di 24,99 €.
Per scaricare gratuitamente la mod DayZ e mantenerla costantemente aggiornata, vi consiglio di utilizzare il programmino DayZ Commander. DayZ Commander vi installerà automaticamente mod e aggiornamenti, potrete scaricare ed installare la nuova mappa (non ufficiale) Lingor Island e avrete a disposizione tutta la lista degli oltre 4000 server per scegliere comodamente la vostra partita. Sono disponibili anche filtri di ricerca e salvataggio dei preferiti.

Guida alla prima installazione e consigli per unirsi facilmente al gruppo VRGZ
1. Acquistate e scaricate Arma 2 Combined Ops su Steam al costo di 24,99 €. Il pacchetto totale si aggira intorno ai 15 gb e al termine del download vi troverete installati su Steam due giochi: Arma 2 e Arma 2 Operation Arrowhead.
2. Lanciate da Steam entrambi i giochi una volta per creare un profilo giocatore e registrare i codici dei giochi.
3. Scaricate ed installate il programmino DayZ Commander
4. Una volta installato aprite il DayZ Commander e cliccate su "Install/Update" in alto a destra. A questo punto installate l'ultima build di Arma 2 (Latest) e la mod DayZ 1.7.2.6 (Latest) semplicemente cliccando sui tastini a lato. Se tutto è andato a buon fine le voci diventeranno bianche e a lato comparirà una scritta "Up to date". Se invece vedete ancora le voci in giallo significa che c'è un aggiornamento disponibile. L'ultima voce DayZ Lingor è una mappa non ufficiale opzionale, potete scaricarvela ma non è strettamente necessaria per poter giocare con noi per ora.
5. Ora potete registrarvi alla community che fornisce i server regolamentati e protetti da password che attualmente utilizziamo, DayZ RP a questo indirizzo.
6. Una volta registrati andate nella sezione SERVER RULES e leggete bene le regole presenti sul server. Attendete il countdown in fondo alla pagina, inserite la password che vi chiederà (IHaveReadTheRules) e cliccate su "Click here to get the Server password". Click su "Server Password" e avrete la parola d'accesso.
7. Tornate al DayZ Commander, cliccate su "favorites" ed inserite questo indirizzo IP "81.170.228.161:2306". Cliccate su Add Favorites e cosi avrete aggiunto ai preferiti il server RP 2 che utilizziamo.
8. Doppio click sul server e inserite la Password
9. Fatto ora dobbiamo solo ritrovarci in Chernarus!

In che server giochiamo?
Dato che è molto difficile, attualmente, trovare server soddisfacenti per potenza/banda e giocabilità (hackers, cheaters, player che ti sparano a vista, ecc.) vi consiglio di provare quelli forniti dalla community dayzrp.com. I 2 server sono protetti da password e continuamente monitorati in modo tale da punire chi bara o chi trasgredisce alle regole imposte dagli amministratori. La password è reperibile gratuitamente previa registrazione alla community e dopo aver accettato le regole dei server, che io trovo perfette per un gioco coop-survival:
DayZ Role-Playing Server Rules
Combat
- NO killing on sight! This rule is probably the rule that bears the most weight on our server. People come here to seek refuge from all the killing on the official hive servers, though; this does not mean that there won’t be any killing.
Killing other players is ONLY allowed in following situations:
- You are being shot at
- You are being attacked/robbed/kidnapped by a bandit
- You are a bandit and the person you are trying to rob/kidnap is trying to escape
- Another player is stealing your items/vehicles
- Another player has stolen your items/vehicles, you have 2 hours to reclaim them until they are no longer considered yours.
You CANNOT kill other players when:
- You robbed them and they complied (no executions, counts as RDM)
- You see someone looting a corpse of your friend (does not count as stealing, warn them first)
- They are driving their vehicle and you have not made contact
KoS is considered killing a player or shooting a vehicle for no apparent reason, and without making contact.
RDM is considered killing a player for breaking the rules after making contact.
Killing players on sight is punishable by permanent ban.
Random Deathmatch is punishable by a character reset, temporary ban, to a permanent ban for repeat offender.
Exploits
All hacking, executing scripts, flooding, network attacks and other illegal activities will result in a permanent ban and will be reported with GUID and IP of the offender to BattlEye.
Avoiding death, damage or zombie aggro - either by disconnecting, shutting down the game or other not legitimate ways - will be punished with a character reset.
Exploiting server lag, DayZ or ArmA bugs or using any other gameplay exploits will be punished with a temporary or permanent ban.
Respect
Please keep in mind when you are on these forums that some things you might not find offensive, or insulting, others may take very seriously. Our admins will be doing their best to keep the forum clean of the following.
Racism is not tolerated on this server or forum. You will be warned, temporarily banned, then permanently banned. This goes for in game server names also.
Flaming threads will be locked and result in a warning to temporary forum ban in extreme cases.
Disrespecting other players in the shout box, or in open threads is punishable by a temporary forum/server ban to a permanent ban in extreme cases.
